The project questions the immediacy and intimacy of instant photography through the use of smartphones, and its link to preserving memories. By using a photography made with one’s phone, a selfie, then translated into a textile technique, embroidery, which is itself produced by a machine, the project intertwines old traditions of textile production with the instan-taneous modern means of production, consumption and documentation of cultural objects.

«I wanted to look at those pictures, those memories and take out the people from them in order to create a new pictural language. We create so many images everyday, that we never look back at. Instead they are stored, not in our memories but in our phones and back ups. This was a way for me to register these moments and create new recordings of them.»

Each embroidery is 21,5*25,5cm.
